| I am researching both paternal and maternal branches of my family tree. I was born in Idaho and now live in Virginia, and my ancestors similarly hailed from many different states and countries. My dad's ancestors ended up in Nebraska and South Dakota; his mother's maternal grandfather, Anders Roberg, arrived from Norway in 1875. More distantly, my dad's Wilson ancestors were among the Seventh-Day Baptist families of Newport, Rhode Island and Shrewsbury, New Jersey which originated in Suffolk, England. My mom's Hoffmann and Swing ancestors came to America more recently. They arrived in America from Germany and Switzerland in the nineteenth century and settled mainly in Illinois. Here is a more complete list of the surnames I am researching: Montgomery, Wilson, Roberg, Lien, Davis, Hoffmann, Hunkler, Rusch, Swing, Murphy, Slagel, Taylor, Gifford, Maxson, Clarke, Hubbard, Cooke, Kerrich, Crandall, Mosher, Burdick, Sutton, Cooper, Davenport, Aland, Conklin, Stauri. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who would like to share information or has anything to add to my research. |
