Ancestors of Tressie Maine Kidd

Generation No. 8

      160. Edward Polley, born Bef. 1713 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia; died 1770 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

Notes for Edward Polley:
According to MY FAMILY CONNECTIONS: VOLUME 1 - THE PAULEYS by Ruth Williams Cornell, page 7:

The first Pauleys who came to the Coal River area were from Pittsylvania County, Virginia. It was there that Edward Polley obtained 400 acres in 1753 on the Sandy River. He was then most likely a middle-aged man with half grown sons. These young men began to buy land in 1762 when Edward Polley (probably Edward, Jr.) bought land on Cherrystone and Mill Creek, and Joseph Polley bought land adjoining Edward. David Polley bought 150 acres on Reedy's Creek in 1767. In 1771, Edward Polley, Jr. was appointed administrator of the estate of Edward Polley, Sr.

I've chosen to use the Polley spelling for this man because all the documents that can be found during this time spells the name Polley.
