HELLO POTENTIAL COUSINS!!! My sister and I are researching the following surnames: BISCH, COSMAN, EDWARDS, McALPINE (MacALPINE), METZLER, SCHMITT & TROEDEL (TRODEL).

I am also researching my husband's family tree. The main surnames I have at this point are MOON and SIXBERRY and TYLER. His paternal grandparents are William Lee MOON and Nellie SIXBERRY. They had 5 children who survived to adulthood--William, LeRoy, Nellie Marie, Geraldine and Ethel Irene. Nellie is the daughter of Edgar SIXBERRY and Nellie TYLER of the Bellwood, Nebraska area. Edgar and Nellie had 6 children--Feba (Phoebe?), Harley Harry, David Chester, Ralph, Arthur and Nellie. Edgar's parents were David SIXBERRY and Phoebe Mason.

My paternal 4th great-frandfather, Daniel McALPINE, was christened 20 Apr 1779 in Glasgow, Scotland. I believe he had three brothers and four sisters (John, Isobell, Margaret, Marion, Mary, Duncan & Euphan). All were born in Glasgow. Daniel emigrated to Nova Scotia sometime before 13 Jul 1805, which is when he married Barbara Ellen COSMAN in Sissiboo (now Weymouth), Nova Scotia. Barbara was born in Sissiboo in 1786 to James & Catherine COSMAN. Daniel & Barbara's oldest child, John Cosman McALPINE (my 3rd great-grandfather) married Mary DeWolfe KINNEY and had 11 children (Mary Jane, Maria E., Matilda Ann, Catherine M., Cynthia M., Wallace, Ruth Eliza, John Stewart, Sarah Malinda, James Rufus & Martha Helen). I am especially interested in locating Daniel's ancestors, his siblings and their families, and his children and their families.

My other paternal 2nd great-grandfather, Amos Heald EDWARDS was born in 1817 in Vermont, married Eliza Caroline Grant (1st cousin of President Grant), and had 8 children (Altaire Hahrue, Charles Porter, Alphonso Chester, Ella Carrie, Eo Reo, Sibbie Eddie, Bert Elgin & Ivers Cummings). Altaire and Charles were born in Ohio. All others were born in Wisconsin. Bert Elgin EDWARDS married Utavilla McALPINE (great-granddaughter of Daniel McALPINE) in 1887. For more in depth information on the EDWARDS side of the family, please go to my sister's home page, The Jean E. Mangrum Home Page, since she has been the one to concentrate on this branch of the family.

My maternal great-grandfather, Philip BISCH, was born 4 Jul 1869 in Drohobycz, Austria (now the Ukraine). His parents were Heinrich BISCH and Barbara THRON. Philip married Barbara Marie METZLER (born 2 July 1874 in Grabowic, Austria--now Ukraine). Barbara's parents were Phillip Johann METZLER and Karoline SCHMIDT. Their first two children, Joseph & Phillip, were born in Lemburg, Austria (now the town of L'Vov, Ukraine). In 1899, Philip and his older brother, Heinrich, emigrated their families to Minnesota. They also had another brother and sister (Johann & Elizabeth), but I don't know at this point if or when they emigrated to the U.S. We believe Johann had a son, Rudolph and Elizabeth married a BIZANS. I am especially trying to locate the ancestors of Philip BISCH and Barbara Marie METZLER, and Philip's brother and sister (Johann & Elizabeth).

My other maternal great-grandfather, Phillip Jacob SCHMITT, was born in 1842 in Gau Bichelheim, Germany to Johann SCHMITT and Magdalena STAHL. It is believe he had two older brothers, Peter & Albert, and a younger sister, Bertha. Phillip emigrated to New York in 1873. It is unknown if his brothers emigrated at the same time, but the information I have is that they settled in New York. Bertha is said to have married a man with the last name of HENERSER and died in Switzerland. In 1881, Phillip moved to Medical Lake, Washington (outside Spokane) where he met and married Hedwig TROEDEL (born 20 May 1866 in Gollendorf, Germany). Hedwig's parents were Franz TROEDEL and Magdalena REINELT. I'm particularly looking for the ancestors of Phillip SCHMITT and Hedwig TROEDEL and Phillip's brothers and sister.

Researching our family tree is like a treasure hunt to me.
