Notes for MELANEY MOORE:
I was born at St. David's Hospital in Austin, TX when my father was attending the University of Texas. My mother worked for the phone company there. I lived there until I was 18 months old, at which time the family moved to Dayton, TX where my father had grown up. Shortly after moving back to Dayton, my brother William Fowler "Bubba" Moore, Jr. was born. The family resided at 603 Hill St. in Dayton. I attended Stephen F. Austin Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Jr. High School, and Dayton High School. I played sports during school, and was a member of the band from the time I was in the 5th grade. I played a clarinet and was the 1st chair soloist. I received a scholarship to band camp in Beaumont, TX at Lamar University when I was in the 8th grade. While I was there, my best friend Denise Bayless was killed in an auto accident at the age of 15, which was a very traumatic experience for me. I continued in the band throughout high school, receiving the honor of "Who's Who" for my participation. I also earned 8 gold medals for my solos and with the band when we participated in "band contests". My grades were straight A's. I remember my first B, which I received in the 8th grade in History. Today with my interest in genealogy my history interest has also increased so I probably would make that A today. When I graduated from the 8th grade and went on to high school, I was 11th in my class of 67. I had the usual boy friends that teenagers do and went "steady" with Gary Joe "Skeet" Raggio from Liberty, TX all through high school. Liberty was only 6 miles away and the girls from Dayton dated the boys from Liberty and the girls from Liberty dated the boys from Dayton. I guess growing up in a town of 2,000 had something to do with that.
In high school I participated in all sports that girls were allowed to at that time. I participated in and was a member of the school paper, the Spanish Club, the Future Teachers of America and various other organizations and was quite active. I was a member of the National Honor Society and graduated 7th in my class scholastically.
When I was 8 years old, my mother caught polio. She was taken to Houston and was in the hospital for two years. We only saw her a few times during those two years. When she returned home, I was 10 and started taking care of her as she was completely paralyzed. She had to be bathed, dressed, picked up in her "lift" and put in her wheel chair every day, and put to bed at night by me.
My father owned the movie theater in Dayton. At that time we called it the picture show. I worked there from the time I was 10 until I was out of high school. I worked seven days a week, and from noon until midnight on the weekends. After school my brother Bubba and I would have to clean up the theater for the next nights movies.
After graduation I moved to Houston, TX and attended Hermann Hospital School of X-ray Technology. I graduated 2nd in my class as a Registered Radiologic Technologist. After graduation, I moved to Bryan, TX where my parents had moved in 1966. I got my first job at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan as the Chief Technologist and Department Head. This was pretty "heady" stuff for a 19 year old. The hospital was right down the street from the house we were renting in Bryan on 28th street. That way I could go home at lunch and see about mother and was very close in case I was needed. While I had been in x-ray school, my sister Charlotte had taken care of mother and was still doing so.

Notes for DAVID LANIER LOHN:
Divorced in 1974

Notes for JAMES CLIFTON "JIM" DODSON , SR.:
Jim grew up in Dixie, LA. outside of Shreveport, LA in a cotton farming community. Most of his mother's sisters lived in houses next to each other. Across the road was the railroad track and the cotton fields. His father, Butler Dodson, owned a cotton gin in Dixie for most of his life and most of the Dodson's lived around Dixie and Plain Dealing and Belcher, LA. His mother was a homemaker and always made lunch for the employees of her husband during ginning season. His father also took care of the water plant on a volunteer basis. Jim had one older sister, Ann who was a teacher. Her degree was also from Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA. Jim had a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He graduated from high school in 1965. When he got out of college, he went to work for Halliburton Services as a field engineer. He first worked in Mississippi and eventually went to Duncan, OK to work in Research and Development for Halliburton. He was with Halliburton for many years and had a home at 1614 Terrace Drive in Duncan. He married Melaney Moore on May 27, 1978 and about a year and a half later their son, James Clifton, Jr. was born on December 14, 1979. He was born in Duncan Regional Hospital in Duncan, OK by C-section. About 1981 Melaney, Jim, and little Clif moved to Houston, Texas where Jim went to work for Richmond Tank Car Company in Sheldon, TX, right outside of Houston. They lived at 5714 Upper Lake Drive in Atascocita Oaks, which is right outside of Humble, TX. They divorced in 1984. Jim was a very outgoing, friendly person.

Ashley plays softball for Bryan High School in Bryan, TX. She is an A&B student. This is a poem she wrote for school in 9th grade 1997. She thinks it is "stupid". I think it is very good.

"Changes"

First I was a baby
Whining and crying
Sucking on a pacifier
Drooling and slobbering

Then I was a child
Running and playing
Hiding and finding
Dirty and sticky

Now I'm a teenager
Laughing and joking
Flirting and primping
Athletic and energetic

When I'm and adult
College and classes
Working and resting
What else!
Who knows!
