He married MARTHA ANN THORNTON 1803 in Virginia, daughter of REV. THORNTON and ELIZABETH HILL. She was born 1789 in Elbert Co., Georgia, and died November 11, 1862 in Salem, Lee Co., Alabama.

This information was extracted from "Ancestors & Descendants of Rev. William S. Rogers and Mary Edna Gary Rogers - 1642-1950" by Edna Rogers. "while on a research trip to Alabama in July 1965, I was shown graves in a pasture that may indicate some more details of the names of their children".

Samuel moved to Elbert County, GA. with his father, James Adams. in 1796. He was a member of Van's Creek Baptist Church at Ruckersville, GA. about 8 miles from Elbertson, GA. of which Rev. Dozier Thornton was pastor.

In 1803 Samuel Adams married Martha Ann Thornton. they moved to Russell Co., Alabama before 1845. Samuel and Martha were living with their son, Thompson Thornton Adams in Pollock Co. Alabama at the time of his death in 1861.

Marth Ann Thornton "Patsy" Adams.

After moving with Samuel to Bullock Co., Al, and living with son Thompson Thornton Adams - Samuel died in 1861. Marth Ann went to Russell Co. to visit her son Eldredge Adams and died there about a year after her husband death, cir. Nov. 1862

Buried in an unmarked grave also - in County Line Cemetery, Salem, Lee County, Alabama.

Martha was born in Elbert Co. Ga in 1789. See Luke Thornton Line

John C. Adams, youngest child of Rev. soldier James Allen Adams and Jane Cunningham. In 1814 Hieram Ganes wills him a negro, Charles, which his father received for him as John C. was not of age. See docket Court of Ordinary, Elbert Co., GA, 1815-1830. John C. sells land 12-29-1826. Rec. 5, pg. 21.

It is inferred that John C. and his father lived alone, after Jane's death, with their servant Harry. James, the father, remembered him especially in his will "because of John C. had taken care of him in his old age." Copy will attached>
