Notes for Augustine^ Leftwich, Sr.: A History of Monroe Co., MS 1988-Monroe County Book Company pg 386 -
Resource: "History and Records of the Leftwich Family in VA" by Walter Lee Hopkins, published in 1931 and donated to Clayton Library, Houston, TX.
He was born about 1712-1713 to what was originally New Kent Co., VA but in that part which is now Caroline Co., VA. He moved to Lunenburg., VA in 1751, (which changed to Bedford Co., in 1753) died in 1795.
Richmond Land Office - Sept 26, 1760- "tract of land 212 acres in Bedford Co., VA on both sides of David's Creek, part of Staunton River."
Deed Book 1, pg 410 -April 27, 1761, he deeded "Wm. Leftwich 150 acres on both sides of Goose Creek by lands the said Wm. Leftwich now lives."
Sargent in French and Indian Wars 1750-1758 (1754-1760 in another source).
Bedford Co.,VA deeds 1761-1766, B-411; Augustine Leftwich (Jr or Sr?) June 26 1764 290 ac for 50 Eng pounds, Little Otter River; also, Augustine Leftwich (Jr or Sr?) to Thomas Leftwich 100 ac for 100 Eng pounds Goose Creek; also, Augustine Leftwich, Jr. is witness to above deed from Thomas Leftwich-Augustine Leftwich (most probably Sr.) dated June 23,1765; also, William Leftwich, witness to deed July 24, 1764. Also see page 401 in "Bedford County, Virginia Deeds 1761-1766" and page 611 dated June 25 1765 from Augustine Leftwich to Thoams Leftwich, 100 acres south side of goose Creek, signed by Augustine Leftwich. Wit. Hugh Challes, Joshua Earley, Augustine Leftwich Jr. Recorded June 23, 1765. This had to be SENIOR selling land to Thomas.

Bedford Co., VA - He left will dated June 10, 1794 and probated June 22, 1795 Will Book B, page 156. This name given on notebook papers in the Vertical Leftwich files from Clayton Library, Houston, TX. stated, "moved to Bedford Co., VA 1751 and died there 1795."

"Virginia Tax Payers 1782-87, other than those published by the US Census Bureau, by Fothergill and Naugle, published 1940: (GEN975.5F761) page 75, list many Leftwich man, among them is Augustine Sr., 1, 15, Bed.
1998 - Leftwich Society went to see his grave on Goose Creek, Bedford Co., VA. On private property, near railroad. Deducted at Society meeting, Augustine married Elizabeth Stovall when he was about 65 and the marriage was a second marriage for both of them.
DAR Patriot Index page 1776 list his son and this man, birth 1712-1715, VA, d. 6/22/1795 married twice, Elizabeth Stovall, other lady not named, was PS in VA.
