Notes for J
AMES A FRITZPATRICK MOORE:
[OUR FAMILY.ged]

James A Moore was born in Dublin Ireland and came to this country with a regt. of Irish soldiers attached to the British Army during the Revolutionary War,
in fact his name was not Moore but Fitzpatrick but knowing the methods of the British in his homeland he lost no time leaving the British cause and enlisting in the Continental Army under Washington and took the maiden name of his mother which was Moore. Since that time the name of Moore has has been borne by all of his descendents. After the close of the Revolutionary war he settled in Pittsburgh Pa. married and entered into the iron business. This not proving profitable he liquidated his affairs and with his family moved to Tazewell County Virginia after a short stay there to what is now Lawrence County Kentucky where he settled on land that was probably given him as a grant for his services during the war. He is buried at or near the mouth of Little Baine Creek.

This history was told to Anderson L. Moore by his Grandmother Lucinda Miller Moore on Jan. 14 1933.
Anderson L. Moore stated in another part of the story that another source of information said James last name was not Fritzpatrick but Kirkpatrick. He is not sure which is correct.
