My GGGGG(5th Generation). The Ingrams immigrated to this country from Wales, and are known to have been in Northumberland Co., Va. before the Middle of the 17th Century. Four generations later Joseph Ingram (1744-1828) settled in Anson Co., N.C. He was born in Culpepper Co., Va., the son of John Ingram and Hannah Pines; it is said that seven of John Ingram's sons served in the American Revolution, and of these Joseph was one.
In Northumberland Records there is a deed, 19 Nov 1707 to "John Ingram of N.C." and in 1749 he is "of Orange Co., N.C." when he bought 330 acres in Brunswick Co. on the south side of Meherrin River, in 1754 he is "of Brunswick Co." when he bought 267 acres on the north side of that river of Daniel Taylor. But he owned land in other counties - - Granville Co., N.C. and Lunenburg Co., Va.; as shown in his will, signed 3 March 1762, proved 28 Nov 1763; he is "of the Parish of Meherrin" and names his wife Hannah, sons Samuel, John, deceased(leaving his wife Elizabeth who married second Thomas Steagall), James, George, Jesse, Joshua, Richard, Benjamin and Joseph and Daughters Elizabeth Vaughn and Tabitha Gee.
