He married CATHERINE DOYLE2 Bet. December 1854 - January 1855 in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York3. She was born Bet. November 20 - 30, 1833 in Probably in County Cork, Ireland4, and died November 19, 1909 in North Syracuse (Centerville), Onondaga, New York and her burial at St. Agnes Cemetery.

ICHAEL MOONEY:
He was born in Ireland possibly County Meath. He possibly immigrated in the U.S. in the late 1840's. He was a wagonmaker for many years as well as a farmer in the Centerville of Town of Clay in Onondaga County in New York state about 20 miles northwest of Syracuse. He had eight children his own in farm frame house. In 1875 New York State Census in Agricultural Statistics that he had in that portion are: Two acres of improved land; Two acres of total unimproved land; Cash value of farm was $200.00; Cash value farm building other than dwelling was $200.00, Cash of stock was $200.00; One and half acre plowed in 1874 and 1875; Three and fourth acre planted of Indian Corn grain in 1874 and 1875; 10 bushels harvested Indian Corn grain in 1874; Three and fourth acre planted of Potatoes in 1874 and 1875; 57 bushels harvested potatoes in 1874; 10 apple trees in his orchard; 85 bushels of apple harvested in 1874; One colt in 1874; Two pigs of 1875; Two pigs season of 1874 and older; Two pigs slaughtered of 1874; 500 pounds of pork made in 1874.

Immigration: January 23, 1850, Ship "Naomi" arrived from Liverpool, England in New York Harbor at Battery section of NYC. He was 20 yrs old and his occupation as farmer.
NYS Census 1855: June 13, 1855, He was 26 yrs old, lived at frame house in 3rd Ward with his wife Catherine Doyle (Their married in less than 6 months) and sister-in-law Margaret Doyle as boarder, 5 yrs of resident in City of Syracuse and his occupation as Wagon aka "Wagonmaker"5
US Census 1860: August 04, 1860, He was 30 yrs old, born in Ireland, lived at Centerville, Onondaga, New York with his wife and 3 children and his occupation as Wagonamaker.6

ATHERINE DOYLE:
She was born in Ireland propably in County Cork. She arrived in the U.S in year of 1845 [Source: New York Census 1905 in the Town of Clay in 2nd Election District on page 22] or 1850 [Source: U.S. Census 1900 in the Town of Cierco in Suprv. Dist. No.: 12 and Enum. Dist. No.: 42 on Sheet No.: 11B] from Ireland. Possibly her father's first name was "Leland", it may clue from her son's middle name was Edward "Leland" Mooney.

**** POST-STANDARD OBITUARY NOTICE ***


DR. MOONEY'S MOTHER DEAD AT AGE OF 80 YEARS

Mrs. Catherine Mooney, mother of Dr. E. L. Mooney, died yesterday at North Syracuse, forty-eight hours after the death of his wife's mother, Mrs Ellen Slattery. The funeral of Mrs Slattery was held at 9 o'clock yesterday morning at the physician's residence and half an hour later at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with interment at St. Agnes Cemetery. She was 75 years old.

Just before the funeral news was received of Mrs. Mooney's death. She was 80 years old and had been in failing health for some time. Surviving her are five sons, Dr. Edward L., Peter, William E., Michael J. and Frank Mooney, and three daughters, Mrs. George B. Schemel, Mrs. B. Simmons and Miss Catherine Mooney. Her funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Monday morning from the house and at 9:45 o'clock at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment will be at St. Agnes Cemetery.
