We have traced our branch to Robert Morris in Frederick County, Virginia (now a part of Morgan County, West Virginia), where he received a land grant for 63 acres from Lord Fairfax in 1752. This land was surveyed by George Washington, who worked as a professional surveyor from 1749 to 1752. After moving to Washington County in Pennsylvania (in part that is now Greene County), subsequent generations have lived in Ohio County in Virginia (now West Virginia), Monroe County in Ohio, and Pleasants and Ritchie Counties in West Virginia.

Our line of the Morris family is now being researched by many and we so thankful for the help we had had filling in the branches of our tree. My father, Russell Morris, started this over 25 years ago, back before e-mail and the internet. He spent years writing and mailing letters, waiting for replies, and driving hundreds of miles to look up records. Fortunately, we are now able to post all of our information here, where we can share what we have with others, and we invite everyone to do the same and share any information you may have, and to help complete our little history of this line of the Morris family.
