My surnames are many but the ones I can possibly help a few on are as follows: on Betty's side of the family - Atkinson, Bagby, Briggs, Chiles, Crain, Dodge, Easley, Edmonds, Francis, Grace, Henry, Jett, Jones, Meredith, Miller, Pinckard, Smith, Smitherman, Swaggart, Tompkins, VanAlstine, Whiteside, Woodson. On Bill's side of the family - Hughes, Miller, More, Thompson, Williams Recently, work has been completed (if it ever really is) on the Swaggart family who were from Pennsylvania but pioneers in Illinois, Kansas, and New Mexico. Their family ties involved Whitesides from North Carolina who pioneered Illinois, Dodges from New York and Wisconsin, Van Alstines from New York and Wisconsin, Briggs from Indiana and Kansas to Texas. More than 220 letters dated from 1853 to 1920 that were handed down through our family have been read and the information passed on. Many have already been donated and more will be donated to the local Genweb sites so you might look for those names in Arizona, California, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, Wisconsin, Wyoming and there will likely be others as time permits. Through them, history came alive for us and we hope it will for others.
