The first Barnet Morrison was born 21 March 1784 near Hickory in Washington County, Pennsylvania. His parents were John Morrison and Sarah Cunningham who were married 21 May 1781. John Morrison was born 25 February 1756 in East Nottingham Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania and was the son of James Morrison. Sarah Cunningham was the daughter of Barnett and Anna (Wilson) Cunningham. Barnet Morrison is mentioned in his grandfather's (Barnet Cunningham) will dated in 1806.
In 1830, Barnet Morrison is found in Tuscarawas Township, Coshocton County, Ohio. One known son is Barnet Morrison who was born 6 April 1827 "somewhere in Ohio". Brothers were William and John. The younger Barnet Morrison, his brothers, and one sister moved to Indiana after the death of their parents.
Barnet Morrison worked on the farm of Jonathan Lathom which was located in Gibson County, Indiana and married "the farmer's daughter" Isophena Lathom on 2 November 1859. Children of this marriage were Lettie, Harry Ellsworth, Nannie, Maud, and Ellen.
Barnet's second wife was Anna Eliza Long, whom he married 6 February 1873. It is thought that Anna was from Illinois. They also had a child born 27 December 1875 named Barnet Morrison, of course.
Barnet married a third time, 18 February 1877 to Lydia Elizabeth Spencer, daughter of John Durham Spencer. This marriage took place, as did the others, in Gibson County, Indiana. Children of this third marriage were Pearl Francis, Enoch Fred, John Whitfield, Jessie, Leonard, Carl (my grandfather), and Roy William.
Barnett Morrison died 21 October 1899 in Pawnee County, Oklahoma. His descendants from the third marriage were located in the known places of Fairfax, Jenks, and Shawnee, Oklahoma at the time of his death.
I am interested in correspondence with any descendants or relatives of Barnet Morrison, and willing to share any information I have found during my three years of research.
