| I'm searching for information on Ann (Anna) (Annie) Ambler who was born @1840 in Ohio. She was the mother of:Dora F. born @1866, Lucinda born @1870, Edward Sherman Ambler Jessup born 8/7/1874, Barbara Ella Ambler Jessup born 3/24/1876 1879, and Sara J. Ambler born Madison Co., OH 9/1/1879. On 7/9/1879 Ann (who was pregnant) and her children were admitted to the Madison Co., OH Infirmary (a hospital/poorhouse). Upon admission Ann listed herself as a widow. However, when she gave birth to Sara 2 months later the birth certificate lists the "father -unknown" and the child as "illegitimate" Dora was taken to St. Mary's of the Springs, a convent in Columbus, OH, Lucinda was taken by "Mrs. A.A. Gregg". Edward and Barbara Ella were taken to the Cincinnati Children's Home and subsequently taken by John and Mary (Downey) Jessup of Decatur Co., IN and began using the surname "Jessup" |
