Howard Morry and the Holdsworth Boundary Stone

Howard Morry and the Holdsworth Boundary Stone
This photograph, taken in about 1960, shows Howard Morry beside the Holdsworth boundary stone, which marked the corner of the property in Ferryland purchased by John Henry Morry and his partner and brother-in-law Peter Paint LeMessurier from Sir Arthur Holdsworth. The stone, which was purportedly brought over from Devon at the time the Holdsworth's gained possession of this land in the mid-1700s, and which was used for over two centuries as not only a legal marker but also a bolster to tie boats to shore during storms, has unfortunately since disappeared.
