Find Family

My interest in genealogy started six years ago. At the time, information on the internet relevant to Puerto Rican genealogy was scarce (or I wasn't looking in the right places).

Concurrent with my research I received the very welcome news that I would, for the first time, become a Mom. My little one was born on Three Kings Day or, as we say, El Dia de Los Reyes (how appropriate). A while after I again learned I would become a Mom for a second time. Needless to say, my research took a backseat for a while. However, I am back and my search is relentless and it is now even more important so that I may leave what I find to my children and their own children. "Trees without roots fall over..."

The surnames of Diaz, Diaz De Jesus, Lebron, Lopez, Monge, Morales, Quinones, Rodriguez, Santiago and Vivas are all linked to the writer.

My paternal Great-Grandfather was Jose Vivas-Monge, his daughter (my grandmother) was Barbara Vivas-Quinones and she married Emiliano Morales-Diaz, my grandfather. This branch of the family all lived in Barrio Jimenez of Rio Grande.

My maternal Great-Grandparents were: Jose Lebron-Rodriguez who married Tomasa Diaz-de-Jesus - they resided, had their children, and died in Salinas, Puerto Rico. My other set of Great-Grandparents were: Jose Rodriguez-Collazo and Felicita Santiago-Negron both native of Coamo but died in the Barrio of Quebrada Yeguas in Salinas in 1928 (Hurricane San Felipe).

I've recently opened a personal site: Puerto Rico: My Ancestors and Their Descendants - please visit as it is a more detailed picture - I've provided the link below.

Anyone with information on any of the above, even if it is remote, is urged to contact me. It will be greatly appreciated.
