| My family is of most recent origin in Middle Georgia primarily in the counties of Toombs, Treutlen, Montgomery, Emanuel and the last fifty years or so, around Savannah, Chatham County, Georgia. My paternal family was named Morris. My maternal family was named Gay, also in middle Georgia. My paternal grandmother, Minnie Smith Morris, died in June 2007 at the age of 100. She was born in Lyons, Georgia and died in the town next door, Vidalia, Georgia. She was a twin, her sister Middie died in the 1990's.
