THE MORATO CONNECTIONUpdated June 27, 2011 | |
| Welcome to our online family tree - THE MORATO CONNECTION Who are your ancestors? Wondering where you came from, how far back can you trace your roots? When Nana Teling (Otilia Nidea Nieva) was alive, she gave a list of 6 sisters and one brother, our ancestors, mother's side, to my cousin Myrna Tinoko. Based on that list, some years ago I started a website with the sole purpose of establishing camaraderie by getting to know relatives anywhere worldwide. Unfortunately, the website never got out of first gear mainly because of dial up's teeth pulling turtle pace. This website is not limited to the Morato surname which has a coat of arms in Spain dating back to the 11th century. Imagine then your DNA link to a swashbuckling lady killer dude, a friend of Lapu Lapu who chopped Magellan's head while Lapu Lapu was safely hiding in a portable outhouse and texting on his celphone to report his victory to the tabloids, proud of his accomplishment and twittering BS every few minutes.(Kinda reminds you of millions of his descendants today). Talk of giving credit to a subordinate. The whole archipelago would have been called Morato Islands. Instead, our gallant ancestor only got rewarded with vast tracts of land "as far as he can see". Being far sighted, he got to be a hacendero:>) That, we have to prove. Yes, did anybody ask if Magellan's head tasted better than a Lapu Lapu? Hmmm...Next question please...Do your homework !!! Finally, I migrated all the data on this website to Geni.com which is free for anyone to join, no software needed, much easier to edit. Ever since the migration, member participation has been overwhelming and in less than a month, our number has probably grown ten times. The geni.com family tree website is fast becoming a daily hangout for all ages who wanna catch up on lotsa photos, videos, family news and whatnots with a very personal family atmosphere. Relatives who have not seen each other in decades are communicating and sharing once again through the magic of the internet...oh, thank you Al Gore...and at the rate geni.com has been gaining acceptance, Facebook accepted it as a sister before it gets more popular. Oh, well, it's good, not that great. It still doesn't have it's own chat rooms or support for more popular video formats, we sure are getting spoiled. Just watch. Most members are family oriented social networkers whereas Facebook members are mostly killing time, maybe seeking love encounters of a different kind. Not here, buddy...we are all related and we're all having fun! Just not that kind, know what I mean? Curious, check it out. I'll try to update this as often as possible based on the geni data. See you there! Lotsa entries are ??? or just nicknames. If you know the person and want the entry corrected please email me the corrections with as much detail as possible-full names, birthdates, deathdates, relation to who, etc. Of course you can branch out and start your own family tree which, hopefully, will link to this tree but you will need your own software and create your own account. To start, click on Surname List, Index of Individuals or Interne Tree, Search, Find Person, or click the name of your youngest family member. Maximize to full page. Concerns have been expressed about people names appearing on this website who had been temporary partners and had produced an offspring which could be embarrassing. Unfortunately, we don't wanna get involved in cover ups. Protection is not our business, drugstores are all over the place. Besides it would be after the fact. Here, it's the truth or dare. We wannna have the most accurate record of our roots. Please do your part to expand your family branches. Nobody else have that kind of info except you & your elders. Have Fun!Ay lintian...mga oragon, Dagos Kamo! |
