Billings - The Rev. Ervin E. Benz, 65, Billings, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield.
He was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Sedalia, and was the son of Warren and Dollie Benz. He attended Southwest Baptist College, Central Missouri State University and Southwestern Theological Seminary. On May 23, 1954, he and Mildred "Micki" Parker were married.
The Rev. Benz served as a Southern Baptist minister for 47 years as pastor of churches in Missouri, Illinois and Florida. He was presently pastor of Morningstar Baptist Church, Crane. He was past Director of Missions for Tri County Baptist Association. The Rev. Benz was also co-founder of Restaurant Management Services Inc., Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Benz.
Survivors include his wife, Micki; five children, Carol Miller and her husband David, Joplin; David Benz and his wife Shari, Springfield; Melody Benz and Merrilee Benz, both of Battlefield; and Mark Benz and his wife Rhonda, Paducah, Ky.; his mother Dollie Benz, Adrian, Mo.; his mother-in-law, Florence Parker Gallatin, Chillicothe; a sister, Shirley Dizney and her husband Charles, Adrian; 16 grandchildren, Christie Anglin, Sarah Benz, Ken Kehler, Jonathan Benz, Beki Benz, Kyle Kehler, Steven Benz, Maria Posada, Celia Posada, Jennifer Miller, Kati Benz, Dani Benz, Janella Miller, Derek Benz, Issac Benz and Julia Posada; three great-grandchildren, Tatum Anglin, Clair Anglin and Luke Saylor; and other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, in Nixa First Baptist Church with Drs. Ted Francis and Richard Eakins officiating. Burial will be in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
Friends may pay their respects to the Rev. Benz from noon until 1:15 p.m. Saturday in the church.
