| I am a second generation American, with Italian & French roots. My interest at the moment is in researching my Italian roots back to Italy, and through as many generations as possible. Information I have to date only extends to my grandparents, and is summarized below: Angelo Sanelli Born: July 14, 1893 in Abbruzzi, Italy Died: April 22, 1983 in Philadelphia, Pa. Married: 1913 to Rachael Basilica Rachael Basilica Sanelli Born: January 29, 1898 in Provincia D'Chiati, Italy Died: December 27, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pa. Angelo arrived in the United States with his father and worked in the rock quarries of Philadelphia. Their port of entry is believed to have been Ellis Island. Other details of their arrival are unknown (Date, Vessel Name, ...). Within two years of his arrival, his father was killed in a rock slide. Afterwards, Angelo went to live with cousins also living in Philadelphia. Through these cousins, he was introduced to Rachael whose mother and father remained in Italy. Rachael and Angelo had seven children, all born in Philadelphia and all roughly 18 months apart in age. Their names are: Joseph, Antoniette, Danato, Filomena, Leonard, Lillian, Angelo. All are alive and well, living in the United States. I would very much like to hear from you if you believe you have any information regarding the Sanelli family, or if you are simply interested discussing Italian/American culture from the 1900's. For those of you interested in the Moreaux family name, please don't hesitate to contact me. While I will be happy to exchange e-mails, I cannot promise much information as I have yet to begin researching that side of my family. Thank you, and best wishes. |
