This is the home page for Earl W. Morris and Mary Winter. We are gathering data on both our families: Morris, Burke, Spain, Platts most recently of southwestern Michigan, Winter, Gibson, Bolton, and Gillespie most recently of Minnesota.Especially interested in finding out more about Joseph Burke born in the town of Strabane in northern Ireland in 1813 or 14. He came to the States in 1820 with his father Joseph Burke and lived in Monroe County New York. He became a Methodist circuit rider in Illinois, Indiana and later in Michigan. Also intereseted in parents of James U. Morris b. CT, April 1810, d. Feb 20, 1850 m. Charlotte Abigail Walton b. IN, June 25, 1817. According to family information they moved to AR and had many children including John William Morris b. Batesville, AR, Sept 23, 1850, d Nov 21, 1924, m. Mary Melissa Spain in Iroqouis Co. Ill. they then moved to Allegan County MI. Not sure that James U. Morris of CT is actually father of John William or that Charlotte Aberdean is his mother. James U. may have had a second wife. Any info would be helpful.

We are also looking for connections to Gustavus Heywood and Rufus Chapin.
