I began my research after my grandmother passed away in 1972, when I realized I didn't know very much about her or my grandfather's family or where they came from. He had passed away 10 years earlier and my parents didn't remember very much about the family history and what they knew was sketchy. I knew my mother's genealogy thanks to my Great Uncle Vern Crary, who had published a genealogy of the Crary's and related families called "John Crary of Boston 1630 to 1966". Copies can be seen or accessed in just about every major genealogy library across the US, but there was nothing on the Moritz family. So I began my research aided by a box given to me by my mother from my grandmother. It was a treasure box of pictures, death, birth, and marriage certificates and old deeds, including my Grandfathers will. There is also an old German Bible we have which had recorded other names, birth and death dates and places. |
