Find Family

We are looking into the origins of the family of George Robert Morrissey of Pine Bush and Otisville, New York. This Morrissey branch descends from James Morrissey born 1842 in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, Ireland. James emmigrated to the US along with his brother John, and his sisters Catherine and Bridget between 1850 and 1860. Catherine married a man named Hellmer and moved to Denver, Co. Bridget lived in Red Hook, New Jersey. James and John moved to Orange County, New York where both became dairymen.
We are also investigating the family of Margaret Eliza Hunt, of Weymouth, Massachusetts, the wife of George R. Morrissey. Margaret was a direct descendant of Enoch Hunt, a blacksmith from Titenden, Parish of Lee, Buckinghamshire, England who came to Weymouth, Massachusetts in 1640.
