| This is the result of fifteen years of research to find ancestors and descendants of my grandparents. Jean dit Braindamour Dufour is one of those ancestors. All of the information on him represents only his descendants because I have not been able to locate his ancestors. It is possible that he was the same individual identified by Glenn R. Conrad as Jean HEMON called Braindamour in his book THE FIRST FAMILIES OF LOUISIANA, Volume I in the "List of Soldiers from Plantin's Company who embarked on the Aurore bound for Louisiana from Lorient on September 5, 1730". Apparently this same individual appears again in Winston DeVille's FRENCH TROOPS IN THE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND ON THE GULF COAST: 1745 as a fusilier named Jean AMON called Brindamour. Jean, who was one of my ancestors, was born about 1715 and died in November of 1758 at "By the Riviere Des Aus" presumably murdered, his body was never found. He married Marie Philippe DeCoux about 1754 at the Arkansas Post and had two children, Charles Dufour, born 1756 at the Arkansas Post and Marie Henriette Dufour, born April 12, 1757 in Pointe Coupee Parish. Any information, especially pertaining to parents, siblings, etc, on this individual would be welcomed. |
