| Hugh and Bessie are my gggrandparents. They were married in 1857 in Saint Mary's Church in Newtownbutler, Co. Fermanagh, North IReland. I am seeking any information about them. Their son John Charles McDonnrll, born in Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh,Ireland about March, 1865. He was a carpenter. He immigrated with brothers Patrick and James to Brooklyn NY. John married Ellen T. D'Arcy , born in Ireland about May 3, 1862, possibly County Limerick. Her father was a tailor and she was raised by an older sister. I am unsure of the marriage date in Newark, NJ or Brooklyn NY, but the first record I have is the birth of a daughter Elizabeth, in 1890 in Brooklyn, NY. James apparently settled in Queens, New York and Patrick in Newark New Jersey area. Apparently there was a total 13 children in John's parents' family and I do no know where these 3 fit in, possibly near the oldest. Any information related to any of these ancestors would be appreciated. In addition, I am searching for relatives of John Bowie, born in Scotland in 1830. He emigrated to Brooklyn New York in 1850. He married Jane ? and had 3 children, James, Robert, and Marion. James married Amelia Holfester and they had 2 children born in Queens NY, Arthur in 1888 and Mable in 1887. Arthur and Mable were raised by their maternal grandparents, the Holfester's, who supposedly ran a baggage transfer company at the time at the corner of Atlantic and Fourth Avenue. Mable married William Maloney and had 3 children. Robert married and had 1 child, Eleanor who married Nostrand and Marion married Lemuel Smith and had one daughter who married a Tormey. |
