Generation No. 2

2. BEDFORD ADDISON2 FOSTER (ROBERT1) He married ELIZABETH CORNWELL 27 Nov 1794.

Notes for B
EDFORD ADDISON FOSTER:
"The name Bedford is interesting in that it appears to relate to Bedfordshire, England, which is thought to have been the home of the Fosters in England.

Bedford Addison has a warrant for 50 acres on Cedar Run of Wolf Creek, in 1783, but the title was faulty, and he lost title to the land. He then took his family to Nicholas County for a while; then he returned to Monroe in 1814 and acquired land on Jarretts Branch.

In 1829, Bedford Addison Foster decided to go further West. It is thought that he joined other members of the family in the West, but he lost contact with people in Monroe. Only John Alexander Foster remained on the land at Jarretts Creek."

From "The Foster Family of Virginia and West Virginia" by Mary Martin Hagan and Emmajean Huffman Allred.

Notes for E
LIZABETH CORNWELL:
"Elizabeth Cornwell was probably the daughter of John Cornwell who owned a neighboring tract of land. The Cornwells were from Prince William, Virginia and descended from Charles Cornwell, a contemporary of William Foster. Edward Cornwell owned 2,000 acres on Second Creek, and is thought to be the father of John and grandfather of Elizabeth."

From "The Foster Family of Virginia and West Virginia" by Mary Martin Hagan and Emmajean Huffman Allred.
