William Mike Shoultz was born Abt. 1864 in Indiana, and died 11 Jun 1914 in Independence Co., AR. He married (1) First Wife. He married (2) Martha America Wilson on 11 Jun 1899 in Lawrence Co., AR, daughter of Thomas Wilson and Nancy Byers.

It is believed that Wm. M. Shoultz was involved with law enforcement, possibly a U. S. Marshall, in Independence County. It is not known whether he died in the line of duty. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Lodge, No. 381, I.O.O.F in Independence County. Thus when both he and his wife were dead, his children were raised in the I.O.O.F orphans home. The courts appointed John H. Shoultz, the oldest half-brother as security along with Tom Carter who was appointed guardian.

On the 1900 Soundex AR ED15 Sh 41 Ln 18 there is John R. Shultz, born June 1854 in Indiana, living in Craighead County at Jonesboro on Bleech St. With him is his wife, b Oct 1867 in MO and children: Raymond, b Oct 1896 in AR; Hazel daughter, born Oct 1898 in AR; and a sister named Mary, born Mar 1887 in Indiana. John R. Shultz is most likely a brother to William M. Shoultz.
