There is an entry in the Bastardly Bonds of Randolph NC 1866: Hannah Jane Spencer/Jas. Wilbern Lyndon - Bond 7 May with Ransom Lowdermilk & A.J. Byrns.

Taken from Randolph Co. NC Coroner's Inquests 1851-1890 from Randolph Co. Miscellaneous Records at the NC State Archives:
Deceased - Peter Gardner (exhumation), May 13 1864, Coroner or acting coroner was Ransom Lowdermilk. Coroners Jury consisted of: Wiley M. Smith, Cornelius Neece (or Nance), William Cole, Stephen Lowdermilk, William R. Smith, Daniel Brown, A.C. Smith, William Neece, T.S. Smith, Isaac Lawrence, John S. Lawrence, Garrett Spinks. Verdict was various gunshot wounds to the left side of head and body - murder.

Ransom was Coroner to an inquest on Feb 23, 1865 for John Vanderford, who was murdered by gunshot, with 3 balls in left side, one large ball and two smaller in breast. Vanderford has also been exhumed. Members of the Coroners jury included E. Lowdermilk, and Hugh H. Yow [Ransom's brother in law - TJA].

Deceased Elisha Allred, body discovered in barn of Elisha Allred, inquest/date of death was Mar 24 1865, Witness was wife, Barbara Allred and Sarah A. Allred, dau in law, Coroner Ransom Lowdermilk, death was by hanging, having jumped from tailgate of his wagon. Mouth was filled with cotton.

Deceased - Sarah F. Kennedy (aged fifteen), found in woods near Asheboro, inquest/date of death Jul 23 1865, Coroner, Ransom Lowdermilk. Death caused by hanging herself two weeks previous to discovery - she was seduced away from home by one William Goings with promises that he would marry her.

Deceased - R. M. Sugg, inquest Aug 18, 1867 by coroner Ransom Lowdermilk. Death was suicide; note confirming same addressed to brother.

". . . she was 1/16 Cherokee Indian, descended from the tribe which occupied the Carolinas before the White man came and some of whom are still to be found in the western part of the state in the mountains."
