OHN HENDRICKSON:
1820 Census--TN:

Hendrickson, John Montgomery Co. TN 29 221110-21010
(The only Hendrickson listed in TN for 1820)

From HISTORY OF GALLATIN, SALINE, HAMILTON, FRANKLIN AND WILLIAMSON COUNTIES, IL, by Goodspeed, 1887, reprinted by Frankfort Area Genealogical Society:

"John and Elizabeth . . . natives of North Carolina . . . early became a pioneer of
Tennessee. About 1830 he came to Williamson County, Ill, where he died in 1856.
He was in the war of 1812, a farmer, and for a great many years a local Methodist
preacher."

The following is from Kathryn Kehder's research. Kathryn descends from Elizabeth and John Hendrickson through their son Joseph. She joined the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1988 using Hartwell Weaver as her Revolutionary ancestor:

"John Hendrickson enlisted into the United States Services 9/15/1799 at Richmond County, NC in the preparation for defense against the French Government. He was a private under the command of Captain Holland in the sixth regiment commanded by Col. Read. Was in the honor guard at General George Washington's funeral (1799). Was honorably discharged 6/16/1800. He enlisted in the war of 1812 in Montgomery Co. TN. Was under the Regiment commanded by Col. Cook and served under Captain P[e]ters for a few days, then sent home with orders to be ready at a minutes notice. John and Elizabeth emigrated from North Carolina to TN about 1805.

"Lived near Clarksville in Montgomery Co. and in 1829 came to Illinois to what is now Williamson Co. was part of Franklin Co. [until 1838]. He helped to organize the Zion Methodist Church, Cornith, IL."
(1850 Census shows that he was born in SC.)

The following is from rhe research of Bob Davis. Bob descends from John and Elizabeth Hendrickson's daughter Lucy.

John Hendrickson, who married Hartwell Weaver's only daughter, Elizabeth was living in Richmond County, North Carolina just to the north and across the state boundary line from Chesterfield County, South Carolina when they married in 1803. (North Carolina, Richmond County Marriage Bonds, Genealogy Society of Utah, p. 14, John Hendrickson and Betsey Weaver, 15 Jun 1803, Moses Knight, Bondsman). John Hendrickson enlisted in the armed services from Richmond County, North Carolina 15 Sep 1799 in preparation for defence (sic) against the French government. He was a private under the command of Capt. Holland in the Sixth Regiment under Col. Read. He was in the honor guard at George Washington's funeral in 1799 and was honorably discharged 16 Jun 1800. John and Elizabeth moved to Montgomery County, Tennessee in 1805. He went back into service in Montgomery County during the War of 1812 under the commands of Col. Cook and Capt. Peters. The couple moved to Williamson County, Illinois in 1829 where they raised a large family and where John was a farmer and preacher and both were active in the Old Squat Methodist Church founded in 1819 near the present town of Pittsburg, Illinois. LIZABETH WEAVER:
Note: The biographical sketch in HISTORIES OF GALLATIN, SALINE, HAMILTON, FRANKLIN AND WILLIAMSON COUNTY, IL by Goodspeed, 1887 says that John and Elizabeth had twelve children and Jesse is mentioned as the ninth child. Henry Hendrickson Cemetery Records give Henry Hendrickson as son of John and Elizabeth Hendrickson. Elizabeth, Richmond and Albert were living at home and appear on the 1850 Census with John and Elizabeth. Many of the other Hendrickson children are listed in Williamson County Census records for 1850 and 1860 and are clustered together having bought adjacent acreages from Illinois Public Domain Land in the 1850s.
