OBITUARY

Last night one of East Peoria's oldest and most respected citizens passed away --- the venerable Henry F. Capps.
He was born in Hamlin, Germany, February 24, 1841, and when 11 years of age came to this section which has been his home ever since.
He was a veteran of the Civil War and saw four years of the most active service and was with Sherman on his March to the Sea. He was several times wounded, but soon back in the service. He was a devoted member of the G. A. R.
Soon after the war Mr. Capps bought the Camp Mill at the Messr Farm north of town and ran it for a number of years. Then he bought the Almiron S. Cole lot where the First National Bank is now located and ran the well known East Peoria Grist Mill until 1892.
Mr. Capps and family visited in Missouri and Oklahoma for some time but finally returned to the old home where his last days were passed in peace and contentment.
