Notes for PETER MOYERS , JR.:
Peter Moyers Jr. is recognized by the State of Tennessee as a hero of the Revolutionary War. In his pension application he stated "I was born in Berks County, Pennsylvania sometime in the month of December, 1752.....July 1776 I enlisted in the service of the United States under one Captain Ludwick, in Berks County, Pennsylvania.....in the regiment of what was termed the flying camp commanded by Colonel Loots." He served in Long Island, New York and he later states: "After remaining a short time at Kings Bridge we were ordered to march to the White Plains where we joined the main army under General Washington." He also states: "After the Revolutionary War I lived in Berks County, Pennsylvania, about five years, then moved to Maryland and lived there about six years, then moved to Winchester, Virginia, lived there twenty-two or twenty-three years and in other places in Virginia about three years, then moved to this county where I now live.
