| I am researching the family tree for the ancestors and descendents of Carl Henry Mueller and Louise Dorothy Plagmann, married in Alexandria, South Dakota, in June of 1903. Carl Henry Mueller was born in Germany, December 18, 1874, and emigrated from Germany Oct 16, 1902. Louise Dorothy Plagmann Mueller was born in Alexandria, SD., April 28, 1882, the daughter of Ludwig Valentine Plagmann and Dorothea Anna Maria Elfert Plagmann, immigrants from Germany. Ludwig Plagmann arrived at New York, NY on Aug 24, 1869. The majority of the information for the Mueller family Tree was gleaned from verbal history at the four Mueller Family reunions held over the past 15 years. During the afternoons at our family reunions I have had the privilege of reminiscing through history with various members of my Dad’s generation. Four of my aunts in particular; Lydia Mueller Ontjes, Laura Mueller Fluth, Lila Mueller Winkel, and Elaine Mueller Synhorst provided a great deal of the names, dates, and places, this is their family tree. My aunt Lydia was truly a walking birthday book, having memorized virtually all of the family birthdays. I must also thank Carol Mueller Castaneda, her daughter Venessa, and Jeanette Cain Baas for doing much of the detail fact finding for their respective branches of the family, especially for the third through fifth generations. The year 2008 saw the passing of three more of the Mueller Clan. On July 5th Aunt Lydia Mueller Ontjes passed away at the age of 102, on Sept 2nd my father Clarence C Mueller passed away at the age of 89, and on Dec 6th Aunt Lila Mueller Winkel passed away at the age of 94. This now leaves only one of the original 9 Muellers living. In addition to the Mueller and Plagmann lines I am tracing my pateral and maternal great-grandmothers' lines which are Friedrich and Elfert. In addition to my Father’s family I am also documenting my Mother’s family, my wife’s family, and my step-mother’s families. These include: Mother’s family: Elizabeth M. Rothe Mueller; Feodor Rothe and Maria Braunschweig Rothe both German Immigrants. Wife’s family: N. Lynn Reel Mueller; Bobby J. Reel and Nina V. VanDalsen both from Arkansas. Betty Storey Brooks Mueller; Charles Wesley Storey and Harriet Bruce Hammond Storey, plus the Hammond and Brooks families. During the past couple of years I have found the genealogy work of Betty Lou Elfert and Carole Harrington on the Internet, their contributions have been most helpful in filling in the ancestors’ portion of my tree. When discussing our Mueller family reunions I must recognize Lois Winkel LaFrenz and Alvah Meinerts Winkel, the two people who do all of the planning, organizing, and most of the work for our fabulous reunions. Our reunions are full weekend affairs lasting three days, full of meeting and visiting with relatives, and lots of fun. The Fifth Mueller Family Reunion was June 2004. This reunion was a joint event with the Plagmann Family Reunion. It was held the last weekend in June, in Alexandria, South Dakota. The activities included a visit to the Plagmann homestead site. The next scheduled Family Reunion will be June 5, 2010. Again we are joining as a part of the Plagmann Family Reunion. It will be held in Alexandria, South Dakota, at the St Martins Lutheran Church fellowship hall. Ludwig & Dora Plagmann were founding members of this church.
