| I am researching the Kmieciak, Michalzik, and Greeb families. The Kmieciak's last city of residence before coming to America was Zinnowitz, Germany. Johannas and Anna owned a Beauty/Barber Shop there. Cities of note for this family include, (all in Germany) Goldbeck, Halle, Regenwalde, Frienwalde, and Zinnowitz. They were sponsored by and stayed with Otto & Bertha Herrler in Milwaukee, WI. The Michalzik family's last city of residence before coming to America was Dortmund, Germany. Cities of note were in Germany and East Prussia - Konigsberg, Suleyken, Bremen, Dortmund, and Hamburg. The Greeb family's last city of residence before coming to America was Hamburg, Germany. Cities of note are Frohnhausen and Frohnhausen Hessen Nausau. My first cousin twice removed is Arthur (Mike) Michalzik. He was a Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Air Forces, in the 513th Bomber Squadron 376th Bomber Group, Heavy, in WWII. He was a Bombardier in aircraft #54 and was shot down and killed over Austria when his aircraft received a direct hit from the 20mm cannon of an ME-109. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, Air Medal, Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and additional Army Awards. He is buried in Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium. I am trying to locate relatives - probably in Germany and/or Poland. Specifically, relatives of Gottlieb Otto Michalzik, Charlotte Sczesny, Otto Michalzik, Frieda Biallas, Joseph Kmieciak, Matilde Schulz, Johannes Karl Franz Kmieciak (John Kmieciak), Anna Plitz, and Lydia Pager. If you have any information, please contact me. |
