Family names that I am investigating at present include Burfeind, Dierker, Ehlers, Lobeck, Mueller, Rucklos. Muellers came to the United States in 1838 from Fischerhude, near Bremen, Germany, landing in New Orleans and proceeding from there to St Louis, MO, and then to Benton County, MO. Ehlers I have traced to my great-grandparents in Fort Atkinson, Jefferson County, WI. Lobecks I have traced to my great-grandparents, both of whom came to this country from Germany (Prussia), but separately. My ggfather landed in New York and lived in Brooklyn. After my ggmother died in 1870, leaving five children, he remarried and they moved to Little Rock, AR, and later to St Louis, MO. My wife's maiden name is Dierker. The family came to MO when her grandfather was a small child and they settled in Saline County. Her mother's family is Burfeind. They came to Saline County from Lower Saxony, near Bremerhaven.
