Hi, my name is James C. Mulkey and I was born in Jenkins, Ky which is in Letcher County. The town is located at the foot of Pound Mountain near the state of Virginia. In fact the state line is at the top of the mountain. My father was a coal miner and we lived in different places through out the years. About two months after I was born we moved to Wheelwright, Ky where my daddy started a new job as Chief Electrician at the mine. I am not sure but I think it was Triple Elkhorn Mining, which has been gone for years now. But my best recollection of mining camps (coal camps) they were called was Dehue, W.Va which is in Logan Co. That was a good place to live and raise children. The people there for the most part were friendly and could be trusted by a child without any harm coming from them. Times sure have changed, some for the good I guess but somewhere along the line we have lost a lot of that trust in each other. That is one of the sad parts.

Anyway I have become a family historian on the Mulkey and Miller families, in fact I am still gathering information to add as we go along. I sure wish that my parents were still around to enjoy this, they both loved their families and would have been excited about all this. So I will be adding and changing this page from time to time.

James
