BRAINED WITH AN AXE
A Little Boy wounds his sister by Accident
Saturday Evening, a terrible accident occured at the residence of Mr. John Bain, 176 Catharine Street N. Mr. Bain's son, 10 years of age, went to the shed to cut some wood and got his sister, 6 years of age, to hold a light for him. The boy was just bringing down the axe to strike a piece of wood, when the axe flew off the handle and struck the little girl, who was standing right in front of the brother, on the head, inflicitng a fearful wound, the cut extending up from the right eyebrow six inches, the keen axe penetrating the skull, and laying the head open so that the brain could be seen. The blood poured from the cut, and the boy was terribly frightenend. Dr. Woolverton was summoned and has charge of the case. In conjunction with Drs. Shaw and Ryall he dressed the wound and the little sufferer was made as comfortable as possible. The wound is a very dangerous one, but the little girl was much better last night than the most sanguine hopes of the physicians led them to expect. The family have the sympathy of all their friends and neighbours in their trouble.
