Notes for William Dewar:
Arrived in Canada with his parents in 1906. Raised in Wainwright, AB and Victoria, BC. As a young man he travelled and worked in many parts of Canada and the USA. He served with the US Army Air Corps in the early 1920s. An independant, outdoors man, he for many years operated his own barber shop in first Merritt and then Oak Bay, BC. Much loved by friends and relatives.

A Mayflower descendant. Raised in Clinton, Ashcroft and Merritt, BC. Managed departments in Eaton's and other Victoria stores. Longtime Treasurer of Sir Mathew Bailie Begbie chapter of the Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire. Avid golfer, dancer, camper. Devoted wife and companion of Bill Dewar for 65 years. Died Peace Arch Hospital, Finlay Pavilion, after 2 1/2 years of extended care. Ashes spread by family members in tidal pool at shoreline of Uplands district of Oak Bay, BC., where she and Bill had often walked.
