      2. Robert Thompson Murphy¹, born 24 November 1887 in Dungannon, Ireland ²; died 22 July 1974 in Victoria, BC ³. He was the son of 4. Elder John Murphy and 5. Anna Thompson. He married 3. Norma Merriel Jackson 12 August 1925 in Victoria, BC ⁴.

      3. Norma Merriel Jackson⁵, born 17 November 1899 in Regina, NWT, Canada ⁶; died 19 February 1990 in Victoria, BC. She was the daughter of 6. George Alfred Bratt Jackson and 7. Lucy Hannah Symonds.

Notes for Robert Thompson Murphy:
Raised on the family farm, Drumherrif, Drumherrif Townland, Drumglass Parish, County Tyrone, Ireland. Attended Royal School, Dungannon. Immigrated to Victoria, BC in 1909, where he and his brother operated an electrical contracting and retail business -- Murphy Electric Co. -- for over fifty years. Longtime Rotarian, Mason and treasurer of Fairfield United Church.
Enjoyed shooting (grouse, pheasants, ducks), fishing (ocean salmon), gardening and golf. Played golf the day before he died.

Notes for Norma Merriel Jackson:
Her busy life as mother of six, longtime school teacher, Regent of Sir Mathew Bailie Begbie Chapter Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire, active member of the United Church of Canada's Athena Club, and as a member of the Liberal party's Laurier Club is described in her privately-printed autobiography, Norma's Yesteryears. In June 2001 she had 37 living descendants.

	iv.	John Denis Murphy, born Private; married (1) Gloria Anderson Private; born Private; married (2) Barbara Donnison Private; born 12 April 1937 in Turtleford, SA; died 14 April 2001 in Portland, OR.
