This is a tribute to my father, James Alexander Musgrove, who passed away this past July. His grandmother, Nancy Ann Hancock, of Red House, Virginia, was the last daughter of Captain Nathan Harvey Hancock, son of Martin Hancock. Martin's father was Anthony Hancock of Red House and Jefferson County Georgia. There are many descendants both in Virginia and Georgia of this exceptional man.
This research would never have been possible without the generous time, effort, money, and most of all love, given our family by Lawrence Craddock Musgrove who put together the Marshall Hancock Foundation and restored the original cemetery. Also, I must credit the most significant reseach to Thomas Marshall, III, - words cannot express the family gratitude. I deeply thank all the other researchers who have so generously contributed as well. Anyone is welcome to send comments, files and join in the reunions if you are a descendant of Anthony, and I welcome all "cousins"!
It is with sadness that we post the passing of Lawrence C. Musgrove II on January 16, 2011.
Descendants of Chief Ensenore - John Dodd (91 KB) My Grandmother, Sarah Simmons, used to tell me there was Indian lineage in her mother's family. After many years of research, I have documented one of those lines. John Dodds (Dodson) came to VA in 1607 and actually did marry an Indian Princess!!
