BENJAMIN⁷ VAN BUSKIRK (JOHN⁶, HANNES (JOHN)⁵, ISAAC⁴, MAJOR THOMAS³, LAURENS ANDRIESSEN², ANDRIES¹ ANDRIESSEN) was born October 30, 1815 in Virginia or West Virginia, and died March 14, 1873 in Lucerne, Missouri buried in Busby cemetery. He married REBECCA BAILEY April 20, 1838 in Henry, Indiana. She was born March 10, 1822 in Ohio, and died November 17, 1881 in Lucerne, MO buried in Busby Cemetery.

Ben was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was a "licensed exhorter"

It is believed that the father of Ben was born in Virginia and that the family moved to Ohio before April 30. 1802. They spoke Dutch in their home. The first Van Buskirk on record (no name) is said to have come to America in 1664 and Settled in New Amsterdam (New York).
it is believed that some Van Buskirk had come earlier and the rumor was that the first brick house in New Amsterdam was built by two brothers Van Buskirk from bricks brought to America as ballast in a ship.
