He held the manor of Newland Hall of the Queen, of her duchy of Lancaster. Besides Newland Hall, in Writtle, he owned the manors of Wycombes or Wickhams, in Woodham Ferrers, Margareting, and Birch, in Essex. He also held the rectory of Norton Mandeville. He died Dec. 26th, 1595, leaving a son, Thomas, aged 22, who was knighted. (Hist. of Essex.)...
