Yaya had brown eyes and hair. She grew up in Medford Court in the South End of Boston. As an adult she lived on Regina Road in Dorchester. She worked at Mass General Hospital washing laundry and also at Blue Ribbon Laundry in Dorchester. She enjoyed needlepoint. She had a good friend named Porter Torkentionis.
Yaya met Norman at age 20 and dated off and on. She was sick during this time. She lived with her Aunt and her Aunt's five children in Upham's Corner in Dorchester. When Yaya and Norman married, Claire (Spileos) was the Maid of Honor and Mary (Naoum) and Frances (Naoum) were bridesmaids. Two twin cousins were also in the wedding and Angelo was an usher. Yaya says Norman's family did not speak Greek.
Yaya's Birth Certificate: City of Boston. Gives father's name as Angelo Spillos and mother's name as Annie Demetre. They lived at 13 Noanet Street, Boston MA. Occupation of parent is "cook".
Born at Mt. Auburn Hospital. ________________________________________ Polly lists her paternal grand-parents as Dimitri and Marie instead of Elias and Helen in a baby book she created for her son John. Her sister Helen claims the names were Eilias and Helen.
