• ZWICK_George & Barbara (Hupp) Family (52 KB)
  Barbara was a sister to my great great grandpappy Henry P. Hupp. At the time of the 1880 & 1900 Census this family lived in Franklin Twp., Monroe County, Ohio. Barbara was born in Ohio; and George was born in Bavaria, Germany.

  Edward Craft/Kraft (Apr 1881 - Mar 1957) and Rosa M. Ruppel (Jun 1887 - Feb 1947) were married 27 June 1905. They were the parents of Angelina Catharine (Craft) Singer and Raymond Craft. THANKS JUDY for sharing! (Sept 03)
• Fulda General Store (c 1924) (88 KB)
  Sometime after 1916 German settlers E. H. Johanning and Edward Crock entered a partnership to purchase the Fulda store. Ed & Frona Johanning later owned the Noble Hatchery in Caldwell. Then sometime before 1941 Crock sold the store to Claude Fox and Raymond Kress.

• CRUM_Frank & Elizabeth (Blake) Family (110 KB)
  Frank Crum (Feb 1888 - Oct 1960) married Elizabeth Blake (Jun 1887 - Feb 1948) in Oct 1909. This family lived in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., OH at the time of the 1930 Census. Sadly, their son, Alfred was killed in World War II. (Frank was the s/o Leo & Elizabeth Yeagle Crum; Elizabeth was the d/o John & Lene Ruppel Blake). THANKS to THERESA EDWARDS for sharing this photo! • CROCK_Edward & Anna (Nau) Family c 1914 (106 KB)
  At the time of the 1920 Census this family was living in Enoch Twp., Noble Co., OH. Ed, Albert & Ernest were farm laborers; and Roman was listed as a pumper of oil fields. Only Andrew, Clarence, Sebastian, & Linus were in school. A big Thanks to Lee & Judy for sharing and identifying this photo.

  Carolina (1850-1887) was the first wife of Casper Crock (1851-1929). They married in Nov 1874. Caroline was the daughter of John & Johanna (Fauth) Smithberger (Schmittberger). John immigrated in 1833. HUGS TO ANDY for sharing and God Bless Gma Edna! (Sept 2005)
• SCHWALLIE- Four children of Frank & Gertrude (45 KB)
  According to Gordon Schwallie: Mary Schwallie m. James Iden; and records show that her mother, Gertrude, lived her last years with her in Columbus, Ohio. Clyde Schwallie m. Alverna Archer; Emma Schwallie m. Raymond Durant and lived in Zanesville; Clarence Schwallie lived in Cambridge.

  Pete & Rosa were from Fulda, however most of their descendants are now living in Stark Co., OH. This photo may have been taken about 1916 (Albert was deceased). THANKS to Mrs. Ann Haidet of Louisville, Ohio for identifying the family members in this photo!
• John & Margaret (Hildebrand) WEHNER's Tombstone (235 KB)
  The new tombstone was erected in 1997 through donations by numerous descendants! We were able to preserve our family heritage WITHOUT removing the original tombstones. John Warner immigrated to the US c. 1839. Please note that the German spelling of Warner is Wehner.

  Casper & Katherine (Burkhart)Weisend Crock married in October 1892. They were both previously married and widowed. To this union were four children: Peter Casper, Gregory, Olivia, and Rosella. This family lived in Monroe Co., Ohio. Casper was the son of John & A. Barbara Crock. THANKS to Andy Miller & his grandma for sharing this photo. (Feb 2006)

  In 1900, 42 year old farmer John Schoeppner lived on his farm in Enoch Twp., Noble County, Ohio with his 37 year old wife Rosa and ten children: Leonard (18), Lizzie (17), George (15), Mary (14), Gregore L. (13), Hannah B. (10), Amelia (9), Anna (5), Clara (3) and Frona (5 months).
• St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception (28 KB)
  Founded in the 1840's. In 1980 St. Mary's of Fulda was listed with the National Register of Historic Places. Now known for it's annual Labor Day celebration (always on Monday) when families return for that great home-cookin'. Father Sam Saprano and many others (like myself) would love for you TO COME VISIT! See you there.

  According to Jim Hohman of Fort Wayne, Indiana this photo may have been taken in 1898 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of John & Elizabeth (Huffman) Hohman, who were married in February 1873. Jim is a grandson of Joseph Philip (see photo) THANKS JIM for sharing! (Oct 2002)
• Noble County, Ohio - County Map (43 KB)
  Noble County was established circa April 1851 from parts of surrounding counties (Monroe, Guernsey, Morgan, Washington). I have heard that the county was named after Warren P. Noble, others say after James Noble. Fulda is located southeast of Caldwell.
• SCHOEPPNER_Edward George & Rose Mary (Estadt) (27 KB)
  From "Schoeppner Family" by Joann Schoeppner Cummings: Ed and Rose made their home in Harrietsville, OH. Their first home was destroyed in the disastrous flood of 1913. Ed stayed in the house to move the furniture upstairs. The water rose so fast that it was level with the second floor windows when someone got to him with a boat. The flood took most of the homes in the area. After the flood, they built a new home on the hill behind St. Henry's Catholic Church, which the family attended faithfully. All of Ed and Rose's sons were alter boys, as well as grandsons and great grandsons from 1915 to 1979. Ed was a farmer, blacksmith, wheelwright, and in later years worked at the Marietta Concrete Plant in Marietta OH until his retirement. THANKS JUDY ROBINSON for sharing this photo! (Dec 02)

  Ed Crock married Anna B. Nau in November 1891 at Fulda, Ohio. They had about 12 children. Sadly, Henry B died as an infant and Clarence died as a teenager. Only a few children are in this photo with their father. Thanks again JUDY for the photo. (Dec 02)

  According to my father, Herman Nau, John Nau pumped oil wells and was a farmer. At the time of the 1920 Census John was living in Enoch Twp. I am wondering about the identification of the three sisters. (Also note someone peeking on the porch)

  According to the 1900 census, Peter Sorg (39) lived on a farm that he owned in Stock Twp. Noble Co., Ohio with his wife Rosa (33) and five children: Agnes (13), Clara (10), Ida (8), Harry (6) and Otmer (2). Peter was born in Ohio to German-born parents.
