This is the lineage of Neely's that goes back to Art O'Neill who was born in Ulster Ireland in 1687 and died in Co. Cork Ireland and was buried in St. Helen's, Moviddy. Later his remains were taken to Ardstraw by his son. Art was made The O'Neill on May Eve 1709 at Aileach, Ulster, Ireland. One of his sons, Thomas came to America and settled in Lancaster Co. PA. When he arrived in America, he changed his name from Thomas O'Neill to Thomas Neely. He died on June 22, 1765 in York Co. PA. Deed Book 2-A Page 190 recorded in York Co. PA lists all his children, two of which, Samuel and Jackson went to North Carolina and South Carolina in 1767. The old Neely family Bible printed in 1795 is now in the South Carolina Library in Columbia, SC. Jackson Neely's will and estate was recorded in York Co. SC on February 13, 1789. It was probate case 61 and file 2798.
