Lakin's of NebraskaUpdated January 31, 2004 |
I know nothing about building a home page so please excuse any mistakes. My whole life I have known literally nothing about my family and where they come from. All I knew is that the Lakin family began in England, that's it! When my youngest brother married a young woman who was born in a small town in Nebraska, we had discovered her family was from the same areas as some of mine. It became a family joke saying they were long lost cousins. Our curiosity got the best of us and the genealogy research was born! I have been researching my Lakin roots for 2 1/2 years this year (2004) and found many wonderful long lost cousins who have helped me along the way. I have also uncovered some dirty laundry that no one knew and wanted it to stay covered. Interesting how that happens! With the help of my youngest brother PJ, I have found two long lost great uncles who "vanished" about 70 years ago. Still not much is known but we found them and PJ has discovered some very interesting information! PJ has also become and adict also, oops! Oh ya about my brother and his wife, there is a Lakin in her line that was from the same general area as ours was "way back when". Her name was Lutie Lakin, her relatives also migrated to the midwest as did ours. They even lived in the same general areas in Nebraska, hmmmmm are we related after all?? As we began saying (after the laughter finally stopped) it's to late now! They have two beautiful children and have been together for over 10 years.
