Mrs. John Marshall Dead - Three Weeks Suffering Ends in Death

Those who knew her, and she had extensive acquaintance in this county, learn with sorrow of the death of Mrs. John Marshall, which occurred yesterday morning at 11:00.

Sarah Hart was born in Baltinglass, Ireland, September 29, 1833, and at the age of 16 came to America settling in Poughkeepsie, New York. It was here that she united in marriage to John Flood, April 15, 1852. Of this union five children were born, two of whom died in infancy. On July 27, 1861, the husband died and to Mrs. Flood was left the care of their three children, who well know the value of a mother's love and care. They are: Thomas Flood, Mrs.(Sarah) Fitzgerald of this city, Mrs. (Rosana) William Marshall of Chicago having died last November.

August 6, 2866 she was married to John Marshall, who with their five children, Mrs. T. O'Brien of Chicago, Mrs. John McCabe of DeKalb, Mrs. T. O'Brien of Afton, Joseph and Martin who live at home and survive her.

Thirty-five years ago the family moved to Illinois, settling in Waterman, where they resided until Three years ago, when they moved to their present home, two miles east of DeKalb.

Mrs. Marshall has always been a strong and well woman, able to attend to the duties of her home in spite of her 74 years, until three weeks ago when she was stricken with paralysis. Since then she has suffered greatly but has born her suffering with the patience and cheerfulness which were characteristic of her whole life. She was a woman of strong Christian faith esteemed by all who knew her. The home over which she presided was always a hospitable one and there are many who can testify to her large hearted ness. While her taking will be felt in the community in which so many years of her life had been spent, yet by no one will the loss be as keenly felt as by the berift husband and children to whom the sympathy of friends is extended in their time of affliction. Twenty-eight grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren mourn the loss of this noble woman.

The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 10:00 at St. Mary's Church. Interment at the Catholic Cemetery.
