Notes for H
ENRY WILKINSON:
From the July 30, 1910 Ashtabula Beacon Record:

REUNION IS HELD
Wilkinson-Allcock Families Hold Gathering Thursday
About one hundred descendants of the Wilkinson-Allcock families gathered Thursday at the summer home of Thomas Mattison, Originally the Wilkinson Grove, in Saybrook for their annual reunion.
Henry Wilkinson and his brother-in-law John Wesley Allcock, came to the Western Reserve direct from London, England in 1829 and settled in what is now the township of Saybrook.
Included among the interesting facts related by the family historian were the following events which dealt with English history in the 16th and 17th centuries, being copied from the Wilkinson genealogy:
The Wilkinson family was prominently identified with Oliver Cromwell and his stormy career during his protectorate of England.
In 1560, H. S. Wilkinson, of this family, shed light on the history of events on his deathbed by divulging the secret of the disappearance of the head of the Earl of Essex (Thomas Cromwell), the great English statesman. The Earl of Essex was executed in 1540 and his head was hidden in the chimney of the Wilkinson manor.
One of the pleasing features of the reunion was the reading of an original poem by R. V. Wilkinson of Cabot, Ark., Miss Alma Rennick being the reader and historian for the occasion.
The officers elected are the following: President, Thomas Mattison of South Charleston; Secretary, Sophronia Allcock of Saybrook; and chairman of the committee on arrangements, Sadie Wilkinson of Saybrook.
