Message: Hello Robin, I have no idea if I am assuredly on to something or not, but I'd liketo run a little information by you and see if anything clicks. My Great-Great-Great Grandparents; Samuel Rosanna Hoffar reportedly had 5 sons and 3 daughters whom I have not tracked down as of yet. Samuel and Rosanna were both born in Pennsylvania as records indicate. In the 1850 IN census records I find Samuel 65 years old and Rosanna 60 years of age with a son Daniel (Great-Great Grandfather) 27 and married to Mary Jane King 25 and a 1 year old daughter Eliza. Susanna, 23 (daughter of Samuel Rosanna) Jacob (son) 19 married to Eliza A. King (maybe Mary Jane's sister ?) also 19 all living at that time in Shelby Co. I took a trip to Shelbyville (Co seat) several years ago and found Samuel and Rosanna previously lived in Franklin twp Clermont Co. OH where Daniel and Susanna were born. Jacob was born in Indiana. In the 1830 IN census I find a Henry Hoffar in Shelby Co. I don't know if this same Henry could be a Brother of Samuel's or possibly one of his 5 sons. Also, something that looks closer to ho;me for myself is a David and a John Hoffar in Shelby Co formerly from Clermont Co., OH I haven't found definite proof on this yet but in 1773 a Mathias Hoffar and wife Julianna Schmidt moved to Berks Co. PA from Alsace Germany. Later on I find a listing of their children; John, George, Daniel, Samuel, Henry, Matthias, Maria, Benjamin, and Isaac. All in the exact time frame for my Great-Great-Great Grandfather Samuel. What I find particularly interesting in your family and mine is many of the same names. Did Henry Elizabeth not only name children after themselves but maybe after other members of the family? I hope this is of some interest to you.
