Welcome to the Harold and Pat Nerhus genealogy home page!

On Harold's side, he and his sister Nelly continue to pursue information about their Norwegian heritage. His parents, Hector Nerhus and Johanna Huse, immigrated to Montana from a small village, Ølve, located by the Hardanger Fjord in Kvinnherad kommune, Hordaland county, Norway. The most frequent ancestor farm names or surnames include HUSE, JOSNES, LJOSTVEIT, LYGRE, LØNNING, MEIDEL, NERHUS, STOREDALE, TUFTA, TVIET, and ULVANES. Major sources of data include the Kvinnherad, Kvam, and Fusa farm history books, the LDS FHC Ancestral Files, and various internet sites. A special thanks to Diana Austring for sharing her extended genealogy on the internet. An * denotes our common ancestors.

On Pat's side, her father, Mearl Hemphill, descended primarily from Scotch-Irish emigrants who settled in and around Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. His ancestor surnames include CARNAHAN, FERGUSON, HEMPHILL, KESSICK, LOVE, POLLARD, PORTER, REED, SMITH, and THOMPSON. Pat's mother, Lenore Nielsen, descended from Danish and Norwegian emigrants who settled in Northern Utah. Her ancestor surnames include HANSEN, JOHNSON, NIELSEN, OLSEN, and PEDERSEN.

We would appreciate any feedback and sharing of information. Please feel free to email any additions or corrections to our ancestor reports.
