Samuel Perry Nettles lived in the Wilsonville Community of Coffee County, southwardly from Douglas, GA.The 1860 census of Coffee county shows his occupation as blacksmith.He was a farmer also.He enlisted in the Confederate Army March 4, 1862, as a private in Co., "C", 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment, a Coffee County Company, but was given a sick or disability discharge July 1, 1862, according to the published company roll.He apparently had some sickness or condition which rendered him unfit for military duty.However, he lived out a long and useful life, dying March 11, 1903, nearly 74 years of age.His wife died about four or five years later.They are buried in the Wilsonville Cemetery, Douglas, GA.
