The Nibeck family (aka Neibeck) is a small family line originating in Rudolstadt, Germany and settling in Buchanan County, Iowa, in the mid-1800s. The family name was originally spelled "Neubeck", but it has always ben pronounced "Ny-Beck". Eight generations of the Henry (Heinrich) Nibeck family are known. Other lines which have been tracked are Abby, Blanchard, Bugbee, Bush, Crocker, Goss, Halstead, Hopkins, Menzel, Russell, Sherwood, Scoville and Yale. Data being compiled for this web site includes work by Frank Porter Sherwood (1879-1941), Donald Gilbert Nibeck (1902-1977) and James I. Nibeck (b.1937). |
